Raflalo is Raf Aflalo
In London since 2015, freelancing for a steady run of agencies and brands, making pictures move. That included a spell in-house at Mummu Studio as Animation Director. These days I also lecture on animation at the University of the Arts London, when the schedule allows.
Raised in the vibrant chaos of São Paulo, Brazil (with a brief detour through Barcelona), I found my way into animation through the graphic design door. The path there was anything but straight — branding work, directing music videos for the local indie scene, co-founding two tech startups, opening titles for tv pilots, designing a four-storey exhibition for football's greatest, Pelé, and, for a stretch, running an online skateboard shop. Music has stayed close to the centre of it all ever since, that instinct for pairing sound with image following me into every studio and freelance chapter.
Some might call that a generalist's résumé; I call it curiosity, showing up in work such as mixing paper cut-out animation with generative AI video within the same project.
Right now I'm freelancing across London, currently working with clients including BlinkInk and Google DeepMind.
